The Mango Times
The Mango Times Podcast is where midlife curiosity meets adventure, humor, and human stories. Hosted by Fletch, the show features thoughtful conversations, great banter, and stories from the porch to the open road.
In Season 6, each episode explores what it looks like to wake up in the second half of life and decide there’s still plenty of adventure left...through interviews, personal reflections, recurring segments, and a little bit of well-earned shtick.
New episodes drop every other week and stay under 45 minutes. Pull up a chair, hop on the back of the bike and join the conversation.

Send Fletch a Voicemail or Text!
A train platform in Bath, England is not where you expect a midlife pep talk to hit, but that’s exactly what happens. Between rolling luggage and incoming rain, I ask the listeners “Where are you traveling next?”
You’ll also hear the behind-the-scenes truth of running an interview podcast: sometimes the feed goes quiet because the pipeline runs out. So we’re turning this into a listener-powered stretch of the show and inviting your voice into future episodes. Drop us a text or, even better, a voicemail with your summer adventure plan and why it matters to you.
If you’ve been waiting until you feel “ready,” consider this your sign. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs a nudge, and leave a review, then tell us: what are you saying yes to this summer?

Platform Scene And Real Adventure
FletchWelcome to the Mango Times podcast. Yes, we have three bridges today. Alright, Fletch here. Quick little bonus episode from Somewhere Different. Right now I'm standing on a train platform in Bath, England, and I'm surrounded by old stone buildings, rolling luggage, and a little bit of that chaotic energy when you look down the platform and you see people trying to figure out which train they're supposed to be on. And all this got me thinking about adventure. But not the Instagram version. So I'm not talking about like, hey, quit your job and sail around the world type of adventure. I mean the real kind of adventure, the ones that all of us can do. That adventure where you say yes to something. Uh where you take that trip that you've been putting off, or where you learn that new thing that you've been awaiting to learn, you start that project. Or you're like me, where you get on a motorcycle, you drive somewhere weird, or you try improv, or you plant a new garden, or where you call the friend, and you book your ticket before you're even ready to go.
Why Midlife Is Prime Time
FletchBecause here's what I think. Somewhere along the way, a lot of us quietly decided that adventure belonged to younger people. But I don't think that's really true. I think midlife is the perfect time for adventure. It's where you finally know enough to appreciate the moment that you're in. And you finally realize that time actually matters. So here's what I want to do this summer on The Mango Times. I want to hear your adventure plans. Your big adventures, your small adventures, your absolutely ridiculous adventures, even your local adventures. I don't want you to think you have to travel to Bath, England. But the kind of adventures that might even scare you a little bit or make you feel alive again. So maybe you are hiking across Spain. Maybe you're learning the guitar in your mid-50s. Maybe you're finally taking your wife camping. Or maybe you're driving three hours just to eat the best fish and chips on the coast of California that someone told you about once.
Share Your Summer Adventure Voice
FletchI want to hear those stories. So, down in the show notes, you can now send me a text message, or you can even leave me a voicemail, and it will come directly to me. And honestly, that's what I'd prefer because I'd love to include some of your voices on future episodes. Tell me, now that we're here, what's your summer adventure? Where are you headed? Or what are you trying? Or what are you saying yes to? Because I have a feeling that there's a lot more people out there quietly making noise than we realize. Alright, as I look down the platform, Kendra is guarding our bags. It looks like some rain is heading in, so I'm gonna get back under shelter. And uh my train is on the way, so let's see where this next adventure takes us.
Why A Release Was Missed
FletchHey, it's Fletch. Welcome back to the Mango Times Podcast. I'm glad you're here, and as you heard in that intro, I want to hear about your adventures this summer. I want to hear about what you're doing, I want to hear about where you're going, and I'd love it if you would record it audibly for me. Just slide down in the show notes, it'll say send Fletch a text or a voicemail. It's really easy, folks. Just let me know what you're doing. And if you're on your adventure, even better. You could say, hey Fletch, I'm reporting from Timbuktu and tell me what you're doing and why you're there. I'd love to hear it. But before we get going, uh I probably should explain why there wasn't an episode that dropped on my normal schedule two weeks ago. And the truth is super simple. I didn't have one. One of the funny things about hosting a podcast is that eventually you run out of interviews if you don't keep recording new ones. And somewhere between Oxford, travel, the life of a dentist, hanging out with my 95-year-old dad and the rest of my family, and just life. I looked up and realized I didn't have another conversation waiting in the pipeline. And that's where you come in.
The Stories We Want Next
FletchThe Mango Times has never really been about famous people. It's about people who are just in the middle of life who decide to do something interesting. And you know, a lot of these stories come from suggestions. Like my listener Jason, who suggested that I interview Haru about urban gardening in the middle of St. Louis. People like that who are trying something new, people who are taking up new hobbies, starting businesses, moving across the country, people who are learning a new language, going back to school, going to Oxford to get their graduate degree. Uh, some of you who love to travel alone in adventure. Uh I'd love to talk to people who are getting into motorcycling, someone who wants to write a book or build something cool. Or simply decide that life isn't over after 50. So I got a few interviews lined up. I just need to get those folks in front of a microphone, and it's sometimes hard to get people to commit. A lot of people are afraid to be on a podcast, and there really is nothing to be afraid. Everybody tells me, I don't know if I should be on a podcast. And I always tell them, I promise I'll make you sound good. But I just want you to know I'm looking for a few more stories. So if you know someone that's going through a midlife adventure right now, or if that someone is you, I want to hear about it. Send me a message, drop me an email, head over to themangotimes.com and hit the let's connect, slide down and send me a text message or a voicemail. Stop me at the office if you're local, or introduce me to your neighbor, or your family member, or your crazy uncle Fred who decided that he also wants to ride motorcycles through the western United States or through another country or wherever. Anything. Do you have a neighbor who sits in his garage and paints because that's what he's always wanted to do when he started painting at 60 years old? Let me talk about that person. Or do you have a friend that moved to Portugal? Or your cousin who bought an airstream, reconfigured it, and hit the road. These are just ideas I have. I don't know if there's these people are out there. But the whole point of this podcast is to remind one another that there are still adventures ahead. And maybe your story is the next one we're going to tell. So, like I said at the beginning, I want to hear what you're doing this summer. It's not a full podcast episode. You can just send in your voice and saying, Hey Fletch, I'm hitting the road with my family and we are going to X. Or, hey Fletch, I've decided to finally take that trip and go on this adventure. I want to hear about it. I really do. I want to hear about what you're doing. I want to be able to share that with other listeners to inspire other people. And I'd like to at least keep this podcast going with this theme.
Alignment Theme And What’s Ahead
FletchThis was my theme for the year. I'm probably going to switch things up around in 2027. But for 2026, with my word being alignment, aligning my life and getting all of my cylinders firing, and that's the comedy life, the podcast life, the dental life, the family life, the adventure life. I'm trying to bring alignment to all of this, and I really want you to be a part of it. So that's it for this week. Just a quick brief bonus episode. I'll be back in two weeks with another interview. This is a great one of a couple that moved to Washington. They bought some property and they're using that property to welcome visitors as they ride bikes or ride cars or ride motorcycles, and they just need a place to camp for the night. It's not a campground, it's more of a stopover community space. We'll talk about that next time. In the meantime, whatever you're doing, why don't you hop on the bike with me and let's get out there and quietly make some noise?
